UI Career Center Sponsors Careers Day Sept. 25
Careers Day is designed to provide information and potential job contacts for students in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, but all UI students are welcome to attend.
Several top employers from Iowa and across the United States will be represented at Careers Day. Students can speak with representatives from national employers such as Kraft, American Express Financial Advisors, Phillip Morris USA, Archer Daniels Midland Company, and Wells Fargo Financial. Several Iowa-based companies, including Pella Corporation and Principal Financial Group, will be at the Careers Day. The Career Center will honor Pella as Intern Employer of the Year.
In addition to the diverse group of companies that will be represented at Careers Day, there will also be representatives from non-profit organizations, state and federal governmental agencies, law enforcement, and the U.S armed forces.
"Careers Day is a great opportunity for information exchange between employers and students," said Wendy Ford, acting director of the UI Career Center. "Students come away with invaluable information about different company cultures and employers get a face-to-face introduction with some of the best future employees on the market."
All attending companies are listed on the Career Center web site at: www.careers.uiowa.edu. The site also includes a list of the majors sought by companies and has direct links to most employers' websites, where students can research company information and available positions.
Students who wish to prepare for Careers Day can attend the "Career Fair Tips" workshop, sponsored by the Career Center, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Room S401 of the Pappajohn Business Building.
A workshop, "Meet the Accounting Firms," will be offered from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Richey Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union. A diversity reception will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sun Porch of the Iowa Memorial Union.
