Tippie College Celebrates Homecoming in Style

The Henry B. Tippie College of Business is kicking off a series of homecoming events in style with a student-sponsored barbecue and an appearance by the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. Alumni of the Tippie College are encouraged to attend any of these events, which are all centered around the Saturday, October 4, homecoming game against Michigan.

This Thursday, October 2, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, driven by Tippie alumnus Michelle Norton, BBA03, will be on hand for the Undergraduate Leadership Council Barbecue. Held from 11 am – 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, the BBQ will be take place on the Tippie College patio. Students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to the event. For $4 per person, guests can enjoy a burger or hot dog, chips, a drink, and dessert. An additional burger or hot dog can be purchased for another dollar.

The Finance Forum, co-hosted by the Finance Department and the Graduate Financial Management Association (GFMA), will explore "Financial Issues in a Deflationary Market." The forum will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 7 – 9 pm; panelists will include Franklin Codel, senior vice president of Planning and Capital Management for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; Jerry Zinkula, managing director of Allstate Investments, LLC; and Daniel Swenson, manager of acquisition strategy implementation for Rockwell Collins.

On Friday, October 3, the MBA Association is sponsoring the Third Annual MBA Alumni Golf Outing at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. Current MBA students, MBA alumni, companies that hire interns and full-time employees from the Tippie MBA Program, and Tippie School of Management staff and faculty are invited to attend. The tournament will have an 18-hole, best-shot format with a shotgun start taking place at 8 am, on Friday, October 3.

The MBA Association Barbecue will begin at 5 pm (prior to the Homecoming parade) and continue until 6:30 pm in the courtyard of the John Pappajohn Business Building. The parade in downtown Iowa City is scheduled to begin at 5:45 pm.

On Saturday, October 4, alumni of the Tippie College of Business are invited to a Pre-Game Buffet Lunch to be held from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm in the Andersen Galleria of the Pappajohn Business Building. Attendees will include former dean George Daly, members of the Tippie College Board of Visitors, and General and Mrs. Charles A. (Chuck) Horner (retired).

The MBA Association Tailgate will be held on Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm in the southeast corner of the Dental School Building parking lot.
