Awards Presented at MBA Spring Honors Banquet

Several University of Iowa students, faculty, and staff were honored April 23 at the Henry B. Tippie School of Management Spring Honors Banquet.

Dwight Brown received the MBA IMPACT Award, presented to the student who most demonstrated the principles of the Tippie MBA program: Involvement, Motivation, Professionalism, Achievement, Challenge, and Teamwork. Faculty and staff of the Tippie College of Business selected Brown for his work as president of the MBA Association, his leadership skills, and for his support of other students throughout his time at the Tippie School of Management.

Derek Johnson and Dana Csige were selected by their peers as the first- and second-year MBA Students of the Year, respectively.

The faculty who teach the program's core courses selected first-year student Jacob Madden to receive the Wall Street Journal Award. He was recognized for both academic performance and his work on behalf of current and prospective students.

For the consecutive second year, Matt Billett, professor of finance, received the MBA Core Faculty of the Year award. Baba Shiv, assistant professor of marketing, was selected this year's MBA Elective Faculty of the Year. The Tippie School of Management Staff Member of the Year Award was presented to Shannon Christensen, assistant director of MBA Career Development.

Allen Goody, a 2002 graduate of the Tippie School of Management, received the MBA Alumni Mentor Award. UI MBA students, faculty, and staff selected Goody to receive this award based on his outstanding work mentoring current MBA students. Goody, who works at Allstate as an investment analyst, helped several students with portfolio analysis.

A newly-created MBA Alumni Award was presented to Jeff Roseman, a 1994 graduate of the Tippie MBA program, director of technology and a senior consultant for Common Sense Solutions, an IT consulting company located in Elmhurst, Ill. Roseman created a web-based portal, www.tippiemba.net, for Tippie MBA alumni to network and post messages on job leads, alumni gatherings, college news, and topics of common interest. He has been instrumental in establishing an MBA Alumni Network Board of Directors that will work with the Tippie School of Management to encourage and develop alumni involvement.
