SBDC Sponsors 'Managing Your Wealth' for Small Business Owners
Business owners have always been responsible for ensuring their financial security in retirement. Increasingly, employees must bear the responsibility as well. This presentation provides a general framework for business owners to manage their wealth, and outlines these concepts:
--Asset allocation
--The ability and need to take risks
--Liquidity
--Tax sheltering and costs
--The need to outpace inflation
The instructor for "Managing Your Wealth" is John H. Spitzer, clinical professor of finance at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business. Spitzer has a Ph.D. from Duke University, an M.S. from the UI, and a B.S. from Stanford University. He joined the UI in 1995. His previous work experience includes: senior economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; vice president at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, vice president at Fannie Mae; and vice President at Salomon Brothers. Spitzer is a native of Iowa City.
