Business Week Ranks UI Tippie MBA Program among Top 50
Business Week ranks the top 30 business schools numerically and lists the next 20 as a group. The University of Iowa MBA program appeared in the latter group; it has been in Business Week's top 50 ranking for the past 12 years. Business week profiled 280 MBA programs in the world.
Business Week ranked the schools based on responses from student and recruiter surveys. Graduates were asked to rate their schools on such criteria as teaching quality, program content, and career placement. Recruiters rated their top 20 schools according to the quality of a school's graduates and the company's experience with MBAs past and present.
"The Business Week ranking is partly based on our graduates' assessment of the program, which is one of the most appropriate ways to measure success, so I'm gratified that we continue to do well in this ranking," said Gary Gaeth, associate dean of MBA programs in the Tippie School of Management. He added that the Business Week ranking is one of the most influential for international students and companies.
Responding to questions posed by the Business Week survey, graduates of the Tippie School's Class of 2004 said their management education at the UI was a valuable experience and that they would recommend the MBA program to others.
"I would definitely encourage my friends to enroll in the Iowa MBA program. The student/teacher ratio is small and the faculty is outstanding. It was a great investment for me. My salary has more than doubled, and I am in a much better position than before getting my MBA," said a graduate whose emphasis was in operations.
"The program is comprehensive and will prepare students for future challenges. I would strongly recommend the program," said a graduate whose emphasis was finance.
The Tippie School of Management offers three MBA programs designed to enhance professional education: a Full-Time MBA; the MBA for Professionals and Managers (MBA-PM) in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities; and the Executive MBA, with programs in Iowa City and Des Moines. The Tippie School also offers and an International Executive MBA program in Hong Kong. The Tippie College of Business, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), provides instruction in a personalized setting with easy access to qualified faculty and staff, and its programs utilize the latest technology to ensure that students receive a comprehensive management education that will help them succeed in today's competitive world.
