Students Can Enter Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition
The competition, sponsored by venture capitalist John Pappajohn of Equity Dynamics Inc. and the five John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers (JPEC) in Iowa, was created in 2000 to encourage and help Iowa college students pursue their interests in starting their own companies.
To enter, students submit an application form and a plan for a start-up company, not for an existing business. Plans will be judged based on their content and viability.
Forms and plans must be submitted by Nov. 1 to the UI JPEC office. Students at other colleges and universities in Iowa can enter through the four other Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers: the University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, Iowa State University and North Iowa Area Community College. Final applications and business plans must be submitted by Nov. 29. Regional award winners will advance to a state competition in December where they will give oral presentations to Pappajohn and his Equity Dynamics colleagues.
Application forms are available at the UI JPEC office, Room S160 in the John Pappajohn Business Building, or online at www.iowajpec.org/students/busplan.html.
