"Apprentice"-Style Competition at Tippie College

This time, no one is getting fired. But students in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa are participating in their own "Apprentice"-style competition, thanks to support from the Maytag Corporation. Donald Trump isn't involved but these student teams, like the teams on "The Apprentice," have been given a challenge and the winning team will reap a reward.

Both graduate and undergraduate level student organizations in the Tippie College are selling $5 raffle tickets for an Iowa Hawkeye-customized SkyBox by Maytag. The winning student organization will be determined by the average dollar amount raised per member. This will allow large and small student organizations to participate on an equal footing.

Each participating organization will be able to keep 40% of the revenue its members raise; the winning organization will keep 100%. Sixty percent of all funds will support the MBA Program Fund. Sales will begin at noon on Friday, November 4 and will run through noon, Monday, November 15. The drawing for the SkyBox will take place on Tuesday, November 16. The winner is responsible for shipping the SkyBox to their desired location.

The SkyBox by Maytag is a personal beverage dispenser that combines the convenience of a beverage vending machine with the comforts of home. Four buttons provide selections of any chilled canned or bottled beverage. Custom branding kits, including NFL, NHL, MLB, college and NASCAR drivers are available. The SkyBox that is being raffled has been customized with the Iowa Hawkeye Football design. Read more about the Maytag SkyBox.

This fall, the Maytag Corporation provided this Iowa SkyBox to the Tippie School of Management for use in a case competition held during the MBA Program's orientation week. Officials of the Maytag Corporation came to campus to judge the competition.
