Jay Awarded UI Global Certificate

Renea Jay Renea Jay, Ph.D. Program Coordinator for the Tippie College of Business, has been awarded a Global Certificate for her participation in the UI's first "Building our Global Community" program. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) facilitates the program with the support and expertise of the UI Office of Learning and Development. Nearly 100 staff and faculty participated in the program during this first year.

Participants who complete the required introductory workshop and their choice of four specialized workshops over a two-year period receive a Global Certificate. The workshops provide staff and faculty with useful skills and insight as they seek to educate and serve international students and scholars.

Word of this innovative program has spread to other institutions in the United States, said Diana Davies, International Programs director. "I have received correspondence from universities all around the country asking, 'How do we create something like this?'"
