Clothing Drive Part of Business Week Activities

University of Iowa business students waited patiently Monday for people to fill their cardboard boxes with clothes and food during the school's annual drive. Amy Ambroson, a junior in business, said the drive, which lasts through Thursday, was a simple way for students, faculty and staff in the business college to help the needy. Amy Bartachek, assistant director for programming in the college and one of the drive's organizers, said about 1,800 items were donated last year for the Domestic Violence and Intervention Center. She said that community involvement was a part of training business leaders throughout the curriculum. "It's not always about making a buck," she said. The drive is just one part of Business Week 2005, which includes community service, fund-raisers, meals and lectures.
