Academic History

  • PhD in Computer Science, Northwestern University, 2002
  • MS in Computer Science, University of Chicago, 1998
  • BS in Computer Science, Olivet Nazarene University, 1994

Expertise

  • Information Retrieval, Human Information Interaction, and Web Mining. I study information gathering in research and educational contexts. I also develop technologies that capture how people have consumed, organized, and appraised information. My primary objective in this work is to use the information gathering efforts of a few to make the same material easier for later consumers to find and absorb.
