The impact of a Tippie education shaped the future for Cheryl Davenport. Today, she's making a major impact on the world of business.
As a business consultant at The Monitor Group in Chicago, Cheryl collaborated with her clients in many ways. She helped companies around the globe solve strategic problems ranging from marketing strategy, market research and segmentation, pricing strategy, and sales force excellence.
"This is a very demanding job and I think anyone working in the consulting industry would agree. There's a lot of drinking out of the fire hose when you first start. But the transition was smoother for me because I got an introduction to all different areas of business at Tippie. If you're an economics major, you still have to take a course in marketing and two courses in accounting and a course in finance. Having that foundational understanding of business was extremely helpful."
In 2005 Cheryl graduated from the Tippie College of Business where she majored in economics, completed an International Business Certificate and minors in both German and Spanish. She was also a Hawkinson Scholar. The Hawkinson Institute was instrumental in placing her in a summer internship her junior year at Monitor Group. That internship resulted in a full-time offer before the start of her senior year.
In 2009, she accepted a position with Mission Measurement, a small, Chicago-based consulting firm serving nonprofits, foundations, educational institutions, and corporate social responsibility groups.
"I am thrilled to begin work at this exciting place. I'll continue to work with lots of different clients while doing work that is truly meaningful to me."
