Tippie Build 2 Under Way
On Feb. 13, Tippie students and the Diallo family broke ground for Tippie Build 2—the second home the Tippie community will build with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. Construction on the energy-efficient home will begin in March. Recent events held to help raise the $50,000 needed have included Hammer Head Putt-Putt golf and the Tippie Build/Jim Grifhorst Soupapalooza. Marketing Students Give Super Bowl Nods to Doritos, Teleflora
Tippie MBA marketing students picked advertisements by Doritos and Teleflora as the best of this year’s Super Bowl ads.
Take a Penny, Leave a Penny—Pay the Tax?
Those little bowls of pennies sitting on counters are profit if they’re put in the till, says Cristi Gleason, assistant professor of accounting. Gleason believes that there may be thousands of stores across the country with bowls filled with thousands of dollars in pennies that may or may not be properly accounted for.
Research Suggests Bonuses Lead to Better Investment Performance
Research by Finance Associate Professor Ashish Tiwari suggests investment portfolio performance would improve if it were easier for financial advisors to collect bonuses. Tiwari suggests that allowing bonuses without the underperformance penalty could provide incentives for the increased quality of a manager's information.

Ohlmann Analyzes Super Bowl Teams

Management Sciences Assistant Professor Jeffrey Ohlmann assessed the Pittsburgh Steeler and Arizona Cardinal line-ups before this year’s Super Bowl. According to Ohlmann, the outcome relied heavily on each team's defensive performance and the quality of their squads.
