Prospective Student Admissions
Highly qualified* high school students who satisfy the following criteria can be admitted directly to the Tippie College of Business.
- Completed application to the University of Iowa, Tippie College of Business.
- Effective for Fall 2016, all applicants must have a composite ACT of 26 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.60 or higher (SAT critical reading and math score of 1170).
- Students directly admitted to the Tippie College of Business are eligible to apply for first-year scholarships in the college. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2016.
*Applicants who do not meet the criteria above but present strong academic records will be carefully considered.
Applicants interested in pursuing two majors, in two different colleges (not two majors in the same college) should refer to the policies and procedures to apply for the joint degree program.
Students who satisfy the admission criteria for the University of Iowa may be admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a prebusiness major. Appeal Process for Direct Admission
Incoming high school students, admitted to the prebusiness major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, may petition for direct admission by submitting a request for individual review. You must be admitted to the University of Iowa as a prebusiness major prior to submitting a petition. As part of the petition, all applicants are required to provide a brief statement (200 words) outlining their unique experiences and goals, and a copy of their high school transcripts. Petitions must be submitted using the on-line direct admission petition form. Decisions are based on ACT composite scores or equivalent SAT scores; super scores may not be used. Requests for individual reviews for Fall 2015 admission will be accepted through August 1, 2015.
