Scholarship Opportunities

Numerous scholarships are available to undergraduate students and applying is easy. Complete one application by the deadline listed below and you will be considered for all scholarships which apply to your individual circumstance.

Undergraduate Students with Advanced Standing

Undergraduate students (sophomores through seniors) who are enrolled in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business or who expect to be admitted by the start of the fall semester may apply for scholarships by submitting a single application. Students holding renewable scholarships should also submit an application. Applications are available on the College of Business website in January and are due by February 28. Students participating in study abroad may apply for specific scholarships for this purpose with deadlines of November 1 and March 1. Click on Study Abroad below.

First-Year Student Scholarships

When a scholarship description indicates the award is for first-year students, this means undergraduates who are entering the university directly from high school.

Prospective first-year students who expect to be admitted directly to the Tippie College should apply to become Tippie Scholars to be condsidered for first-year scholarships.

Gordon Campbell Scholarship
To Tippie Scholars Scholarship Program students based on academic merit and financial need.

Andrew W. Code Scholarship in Business
To one prebusiness first-year student and one prebusiness sophomore demonstrating outstanding academic ability. Must be graduates of an Iowa high school. Renewable.

Robert E. and Joan D. Fulton Scholarship
To a first-year prebusiness major. Preference is given to graduate of rural Iowa high school demonstrating financial need.

Lindsay Anne Gibbs Scholarship
To a female freshman and graduate of an Iowa high school enrolled in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business.

Henry and Regina Markowitz Scholarship
To a first-generation first-year student enrolled in the College of Business. Based on financial need.

Murray Undergraduate Scholars
To students in the Tippie Scholars Scholarship Program.

Tippie Outstanding Scholar Award
To first-year students entering the Tippie College of Business in the Direct Admission Program. Based on academic merit and financial need. Renewable.

Charles M. and Mary Ann Peters Scholarship
To select undergraduate business students to include freshmen and sophomores.

13 Fishing Business Scholarship
To a student in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference to a student who respects the outdoor environment and interacts through activities such as fishing, camping, hunting, community work, etc. Renewable.

AEGON Foundation Scholarship
To an Accounting or Finance major, minimum 3.0 GPA, preference to Iowa resident with a strong academic record and evidence of leadership who indicates an interest in the financial services industry.

Becker Award in Business Administration
To a junior majoring in business. Minimum 3.0 UI cumulative grade-point average during first two years. Preference to students from Marshalltown, Iowa. Renewable.

Raymond L. & Mae Lewis Birkholz Scholarship
To a business student with high academic rating. Renewable.

Hermina G. Brandt Scholarship
To a female graduate of an Iowa high school. Based upon high academics and ability.

Jim & Emily Coble Business Scholarship
To a student in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Renewable.

Harold H. Farr Scholarship
To student based on outstanding academic ability and business leadership potential.

Carol Fethke Scholarship
To students in the Tippie College of Business Honors Program. Renewable.

Elsie E. Foerstner Scholarship
Award based on academic merit with preference to women.

Robert Holmes Business Scholarship
To a U.S. citizen in the top 20% of his or her class. Based on financial need and merit.

Charles R. & Princess H. Jackson Scholarship
To worthy students on the basis of merit and need.

Krapfl/Barnes Scholarship
To a senior Iowa resident based on merit and leadership.

Eugene and Iva Jean Kroeger Scholarship
To Iowa residents who graduated from a public high school in Iowa and who are current Iowa residents. Based on merit. Renewable.

Thomas Luther Scholarship in Business
To a junior having at least a 3.0 GPA. Renewable senior year, if student maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Jack & Marilyn MacAllister Scholarship
To students who excel academically, have record of ongoing community service, and financial need.

Chester A. Phillips/Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship
To select students in business who are in the upper 10 percent of their class and who demonstrate scholastic ability, character, and financial need. Consideration to members of Delta Sigma Pi.

Bruce M. Robertson Scholarship
To an Iowa high school graduate who is a senior in business and who demonstrates outstanding scholarly and personal attributes.

Margaret A. Shriner Scholarship
To students with high academic rating. Renewable.

Larry Stetler & Peggy Fisher Presidential Scholarship
Merit-based scholarship to Tippie Scholars from Iowa and Illinois with financial need.

Robert A. Young Scholarship
To a junior or senior in business. Must be a U.S. citizen and show high academic achievement, leadership qualities, and good character. Renewable.

Lowell F. and Dorothea T. Christy Business Scholarship
To students who have demonstrated financial need.

College of Business Need-Based Scholarship
To provide assistance to students on basis of financial need.

Colvin/Cox Scholarship
To needy juniors or seniors who have maintained at least a 3.0 grade-point average and to first-year students admitted to the Tippie College of Business having graduated in the top 25% of their high school class. Preference given to students who are natural born citizens of the United States.

Irma Seddig Heck Scholarship
Preference to female undergraduate business students who demonstrate financial need.

Roy Karro Business Scholarship
To support out-of-state students with emphasis based on need and merit.

Kevin Kerekes Memorial Scholarship
To a junior business student with financial need. Renewable for senior year.

Evelyn Barker Oehrle Scholarship
To a female business student who shows academic promise and has financial need. Renewable.

John A. Schneider Memorial Scholarship
To undergraduate students in business on the basis of financial need and academic performance.

Richard C. Sheehan Memorial Scholarship
To an undergraduate student in business. Financial need is considered.  Renewable.

Mark Smith Business Scholarship
To students based on financial need and merit, maintaining a 3.25 GPA. Preference given to students of single-parent homes.

Carl Stach Scholarship Fund
To a junionr business student born in Iowa, based on need and academic merit.

Stoppelmoor Business Scholarship
To an undergraduate business student demonstrating financial need. Preference given to Iowa residents.

To a deserving student. Based on need and merit.

Wheeler Business Scholarship
One award to a junior with demonstrated financial need; one renewable award for a senior who received award previous year.

Need-based awards with preference given to Iowa residents who are upperclassmen.

Need-based awards with preference given to Iowa residents who are upperclassmen.

Accounting Major

AEGON Foundation Scholarship
Awarded to an accounting or finance major. Must be an Iowa resident with a strong academic record and evidence of leadership who indicates an interest in the financial services industry.

Robert L. Bankson Accounting Scholarship

Rhoda M. Cummings Scholarship
Need-based scholarship awarded to a junior or senior female accounting student who graduated from an Iowa high school and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Preference given to a nontraditional student or a student transferring from a community college. Renewable.

Keith & Helen Dunn Scholarship
To third-year and above need-based accounting students maintaining a 3.0 GPA in accounting major course work.

Frederick Everett Scholarship
Merit-based award to outstanding student majoring in accounting.

Vernon E. Goedkin/Clifton Gunderson & Co. Scholarship in Accounting
To a junior or senior accounting student.

Growmark/Bill Davisson Scholarship
To incoming junior or senior accounting major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to students with an agricultural heritage involved with leadership activities at the UI.

Kalid Igram Accounting Scholarship
To a first-year accounting student graduating from a Cedar Rapids area high school. Renewable.

Reva Kuhser Memorial Scholarship
To a junior or senior accounting student with financial need and demonstrated academic merit who graduated from an Iowa high school. Preference given to a student aged 25 or older.

Martin Rouse Accounting Award
To outstanding senior enrolled in accounting program.

John W. & Mabel G. Schoen Business Scholarship
To junior and senior students majoring in accounting, management, and entrepreneurship. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and ethical students. Renewable.

Henry B. Tippie Accounting Scholarship
To select prospective juniors majoring in accounting who graduated from an Iowa high school. Preference given to graduates of Belle Plaine, Iowa, or Benton County high school. Both academic merit and financial need-based awards, with priority on financial need. Renewable.

Rosemary Vitosh Grant Wood ABWA Scholarship
To a female accounting student based on merit and need.

Ira White Accounting Scholarship
To deserving accounting majors who are Iowa residents and members of the UI Hawkeye Marching Band.

Marion A. Youngers Accounting Ethics Scholarship
Merit-based scholarship to accounting students who demonstrate dedication to studies and the true spirit of ethics in accounting.

Ernest Zuber Accounting Scholarship
To a Beta Alpha Psi officer who demonstrates outstanding leadership and service.

Business & Computer Science Majors

Accenture Scholarship
Merit-based award for a deserving MIS junior entering senior year. Must be a U.S. citizen involved in leadership roles on campus, interested in consulting as a career, and a 3.2 GPA.

Bell Business/Computer Science Scholarship
To a senior business student. Must be an Iowa native with overall GPA of 3.5 or above with first preference given to student with dual major in computer science and second preference given to a computer science minor.

Principal Financial Group Foundation—MIS Department Scholarships
To declared MIS majors, junior status or above, active in leadership roles on and off campus. Must be U.S. citizen or permanent residency status maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference given to minority students, students with disabilities, veterans, and students interested in completing an internship with Principal.

Finance Major

Principal Financial Group Foundation Scholarship—Finance Department Scholarship
To junior or above finance major who has completed a real estate course and is active in leadership roles on and off campus. Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident, minimum GPA of 3.0 with a preference toward minority students, students with disabilities, and veterans. Preference given to students interested in internships or full-time employment at Principal.

C. Vance Shepherd Finance Scholarship
To finance majors who are Iowa natives and U.S. citizens and who have a high academic rating. Renewable.

Frank Warner Memorial Scholarship
To outstanding students in finance or banking.

E. Lester Williams Scholarship
To select students in business who demonstrate outstanding academic ability. Preference given to students from Humboldt County (Iowa) or who have an interest in banking.

Risk Management & Insurance Certificate

Greater Quad Cities Risk & Insurance Management Society Scholarship
To a student interested in a career in risk management. Student must be a U.S. resident.

IIAI (Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa) Scholarship
Merit-based scholarships for U.S. students enrolled in risk management and insurance program. Renewable.

Iowa Insurance & Financial Services Education Foundation Scholarship
To students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a 3.0 or above and completing the Certificate in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI).

Iowa Insurance Hall of Fame Scholarship
For a student from the state of Iowa and enrolled in the Certificate in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program. Students from Iowa who are in the RMI program and participating in the Industry Mentoring program are eligible for this scholarship. If no student is awarded the scholarship from the mentoring program pool, additional RMI students will be considered.

Principal Financial Group Foundation—Risk Management & Insurance Institute Scholarships
To a junior or senior student enrolled in the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference given to students active in leadership roles on and off campus and to minority students, students with disabilities, and veterans. Prefer students interested in internships or full-time employment at Principal. Junior applicants must enroll in the Principles of Risk Management course. Senior applicants must have completed the Principles of Risk Management course and intend to complete the RMI Certificate.

Timothy Emmett Steele Business Scholarship
To students with an insurance studies emphasis.

Emmett J. Vaughn Memorial Scholarship (Sponsored by Cedar Valley Chapter of CPCU)
To a junior business student from eastern Iowa who has chosen the profession of insurance as his or her career.

Business Analytics & Information Systems Major

Award to a junior or above declared BAIS major. Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference given to students active in leadership roles on and off campus and to minority students, students with disabilities, and veterans. To a junior or senior majoring in management and organizations. Must also be a resident of Iowa and have financial need.

To a graduating senior or athlete based on merit.

Claudia Marban Scholarship
To students who participate in study/intern abroad programs offered by the Tippie College of Business. Preference given to Latino/a students who demonstrate financial need and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Sassine Family Study Abroad Scholarship
To deserving need-based students participating in a study/intern abroad program who show an interest in learning about the host country's economic, historical, political, and cultural programs. Preference given to students participating in at least a semester-length (fall, spring or academic year) program.

Judy Walke International Business Education Fund
To students who participate in a study/intern abroad and internationally based program.

To deserving need-based Junior or Senior standing students participating in a study/intern abroad program and show academic promise.
