Student Resources
There are many excellent resources available to Vaughan students through the Tippie College of Business and The University of Iowa. Invest in your future by exploring some of the web sites mentioned on this page. They provide useful resources and information that will help throughout your academic career.
The RMI Student Resource Center
RMI students can utilize their own Resource Center in Room S230 PBB. Two computers, a scanner, and fax machine are available for your use to update your resume or fax applications to employers. Study guides are available for students pursuing Iowa licensure in Life and Health or Property and Casualty. These study guides must be used in the office and cannot be checked out.
Careers Data Base
Fall 2009, the Institute developed a careers data base to help risk management and insurance students find internships and full time employment. The data base can be accessed on computers in the Student Resource Center.
All RMI students are encouraged to register on the Pomerantz Career Center Employment Expo site. You can submit and store resumes and cover letters, search and apply for jobs and internships, and sign up for interviews all in one place. Employers from around the country post positions for all majors. You can also sign up for mock interviews and register your internship for 0 credit hours and transcript notation. To connect with alumni professionals, search our ICE-Net database in Employment Expo. Vaughan Institute events, field trips, internships, employer interviews, and a resume book are also listed on Expo.
We’ve heard from employers that students need to work on their business communication skills (writing and presentation skills). Being able to craft your ideas in a concise and convincing way will prove to be beneficial. The center’s tutors work with students on papers and presentations, whether it is an individual or group project.
