The Emmett J. Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance

Scholarships

The Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) awards scholarships dedicated to students who are actively pursuing the RMI Certificate. Each year, the Institute awards between $17,000 and $25,000 in scholarships. Scholarships of $2,500 and more are typically announced in the fall and have competitive applications that include essays. Among those available are the Iowa Insurance and Financial Services Education Foundation, and the Greater Quad Cities Risk and Insurance Management Society, offering two $2,500 scholarships each. The Iowa Hall of Fame Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship.

Other scholarships are awarded in the spring. In the past, the Institute has awarded scholarships from the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, the Cedar Valley Chapter of the CPCU, Allied/Nationwide Insurance, and The Principal Financial Group Foundation. For most of the spring awards, students apply beginning in January through the Tippie College of Business Scholarship application form that can be found on the Undergraduate Programs Office web site. Students who are RMI Certificate students from majors outside of the Tippie College can also apply using this web site.
