Stephen B. Gruppo, Executive Vice President and Risk Manager of TIAA-CREF, will present "Managing a Firm’s Risk in an Ever-Changing Business Environment." As Executive Vice President and Head of Risk Management for TIAA-CREF, Mr. Gruppo oversees all risk related functions, including market risk, credit risk, quantitative analytics, operational risk, strategic risk, business continuity, and investment valuations. He and his team are responsible for the proper identification, measurement, and management of risk exposures across the enterprise to ensure that the organization's risk-taking activities are understood and effectively managed. Mentoring Program Kick-Off

For students who have been accepted into the Vaughan Industry Mentors Program, the fall kick-off event will be held Monday, November 7. The guest speaker will be Terry Boles and the topic is negotiations. This program should be helpful to students who will be negotiating jobs and internships. Following the presentation, there will be a reception for students and mentors to get to know one another.

Associate Account Manager Program

Lockton Companies in Kansas City is actively recruiting for their Associate Account Manager Training Program. The Lockton Associate Account Manager Program is designed to give individuals a pathway to becoming successful insurance professionals and it is one of several ways in which individuals are able to begin their career at Lockton Companies. The program provides a broad range of learning experiences with exposure to the marketing, servicing and renewal of commercial insurance accounts. This training program is 18-24 months in length and encompasses classroom settings, case studies, effective negotiation training and shaping presentation skills among others. The Associate Account Manager Training Programs will begin in January 2012 and June 2012 and will be at the Kansas City Agency.

Through a mix of learning, mentoring and "hands-on" work with one of Lockton's Commercial Insurance Units, each individual will have the opportunity to become an Account Manager upon successful completion of the program. Each phase of the program is closely monitored to ensure that successful candidates are upholding Lockton's standards of excellence.

Recruitment: Recruitment is an ongoing process at GIS and our best tool has been word of mouth. Let your friends know who we are and what we’re about as a student organization.
