September 13
RMI Student Resume Book
If you want your resume in the RMI resume book in time for the Career Fair, send Viana a current copy by September 13. The resume book will be emailed to nearly 250 RMI industry partners by September 17. Your resume may be included at any time during the semester; however, most employers will access the resume book before the September 20 Career Fair.

You must sign a waiver to be included in the resume book. If you didn't sign a waiver at the golf outing or the all student meeting, blank waivers are posted under the light next to the Institute's offices S230 PBB.

Also, don't forget to update your resume on HireAHawk. All RMI employers are asked to work with the Pomerantz Career Center and you could miss out on an important announcement or interview if you don't take advantage of the services offered by the Career Center.

FIN 4020/06F:109 Global Perspectives in Insurance (London Winter)
Professor Ty Leverty will teach a class in London during Winter Break. We will count it as one of the two insurance electives you need to graduate. The class will be titled "Risk Management in a Global Economy". Visit the Winter Session in London website to learn more.

Request an Industry Mentor
The Vaughan Institute, Gamma Iota Sigma and The Greater Quad Cities RIMS Society are cosponsors of the Industry Mentoring Program. Over the course of the year, you will get to know an industry leader on a one-to-one basis who works in a field that interests you. The application form requires an essay and you'll want to give yourself plenty of time to complete the application. For an application form or more information, contact Viana. International Student Career Series
The Pomerantz Center is offering special assistance to International Students, including resume workshops, meetings to prepare for the job fair, employer panels on hiring international students and work visa options after graduation.

Career Fair
Many RMI Employers will be attending the Career Fair. Please introduce yourself as a Risk Management and Insurance Certificate student when talking with employers at the Career Fair.

Also, don't limit yourself to insurance and benefit companies. Every company needs financial employees who understand risk and insurance. If a company has an internship program in their finance department, the RMI Certificate is a way to distinguish yourself from others who are seeking Finance or Accounting Internships.

In addition to insurance companies and brokers like AEGON, AVIVA, The Principal, Grinnell Mutual, United Fire Group, Liberty Mutual, EMC, Nationwide, Millhiser Smith, Westfield Insurance, Bituminous, Holmes Murphy, Sentry, Cottingham & Butler, and Arthur J. Gallagher (to name a few), our students have taken internships and jobs with such diverse companies as FactSet Research Group, General Mills, Great America Leasing, Stryker, HNI Corporation, John Deere, AIG, Kohler, Pepsico,and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. New RMI partners/contacts include Rockwell Collins and UnitedHealth Group.

Please check out the career websites of all of these companies and learn a little about their operations before approaching them at the Career Fair.

Network with Young RMI Alumni
Join recent graduates of the Vaughan Institute on Friday, October 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in S401 PBB. The graduates are forming a young alumni board and the board consists of individuals from many different careers who have taken positions in various locations across the country including: Chicago, New York City, Omaha, and Des Moines.
