RMI Student Resume Book: Job Fair Deadline Sept. 18
Update your resume on Expo by Sept. 18, if you want to be listed in the RMI Resume Book in time for the Career Fair. After updating your resume, please complete the release form and slide it under the Institute's door at S230 A PBB. This is a joint project with Gamma Iota Sigma and all students are also encouraged to join GIS. All RMI students who haven't accepted an internship or employment are encouraged to participate in the resume book.
Insurance Course in London: Winter 2009
Professor Ty Leverty will teach 06F:109 Risk Management and Insurance in a Global Economy in London December 28-January 10. If you would like to take this course and have it count toward your RMI Certificate, please contact Viana for advising. Learn more about the course and the London program by attending the London Winter Information Session 3:00 pm., Thursday, August 27 in S104 PBB.

Jon Rafis and TJ Anderson, RMI students and GIS President and Executive Vice President, were chosen to participate in the inaugural class of Leadership Iowa University sponsored by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry. Only five students were chosen from Iowa, and we are proud to have two chosen from the Institute. Congratulations, Jon and TJ!

Darryl Button has moved up quickly in the AEGON organization, beginning with the company in 1999 as Director of Product Development and Risk Management. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, so invite your finance and actuarial science friends to the meeting to learn from a leading actuary and risk manager in the life insurance industry.

The Vaughan Institute is sponsoring a networking trip to Des Moines on October 2. We'll visit the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, the Iowa Insurance Division and the Iowa Bankers Association. Seating is limited.
Contact Viana today and reserve your place, or you can sign up on the sheet posted on the door of S230 PBB. Sign the release form and bring it to S230 PBB or slide it under our door. We'll meet at the south doors of the Pomerantz Career Center at 7:45 a.m. and return to Iowa City between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
Employment and Internships
Arthur J. Gallagher, West Des Moines, Internship 2010 and 2011
Arthur J. Gallagher has an exceptional internshhip program for students interested in a career as a producer. Their program presents hands-on learning experiences in a supportive, mentoring environment with a realistic look at an insurance brokering career. It pays $4,000 for the summer, and they recruit in the fall.
Kent Rosenberg is interested in interviewing candidates for a positions in West Des Moines and Sioux City for the summers of 2010 and 2011. He prefers to hire a student who could intern for both summers, if possible. Contact Kent directly if you are interested, or apply for AIG internships in other locations. Many employees are hired for their EDGE program through the internship program, including their current CEO, Pat Gallagher. Starting salaries can be as much as $58,000.
IMT Entry-Level Positions, Des Moines, IA
IMT has two positions open: A Commercial Lines and Far Team Underwriting Assistant and a Field Claims Representative. Check their website for information or to apply.
The Millhiser Smith Agency offers paid internships, coupled with United Fire and Casualty in Cedar Rapids. The internships explore the various areas of an agency and blend it with the corresponding area on the company side, for a well-rounded insight into the field of insurance. If you are interested in a spring or summer internship in 2010, you may send your resume through the posting on the Pomerantz Career Center website or email Human Resources.
AON Early Career Development Program
AON will be recruiting for 60 Early Career Development positions nationwide, and students are encouraged to apply for these positions beginning Oct. 1. There are a number of openings in the Midwest, including Omaha, but none at this time in Iowa. There are positions in most corporate business units, including human resources consulting and risk, which is in their brokerage division.
