    Create an email account now

    When you graduate, you will lose your .uiowa email account. Create a permanent email account now using Yahoo, Gmail or some other service. Even if you're not graduating in May, it is a good idea to create an account and begin using LinkedIn to help extend your network. Soon, you'll be invited to join the Institute's LinkedIn group, and you'll need a different email address to join. Once your permanent email has been established, please email Viana with the address for inclusion in our LinkedIn group.

    LinkedIn is a professional networking site that helps you find past and present colleagues, discover inside connections when you are looking for a jog and get answers to important business questions. It is an important way to stay connected to the University and the Institute.

    IIAI Sponsored State Licensure Class

    We can make room for more students in the state licensure study course sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa. The course will be held all day on April 9, 23 and 24. Contact Viana for more information. The course is free of charge, but you will need to make arrangements and pay the fee for the test, if you decide to take the test. The course will prepare you for the combined Persoanl Lines and Commercial Lines test.

    Scott Fisher is an adjunct lecturer for the Vaughan Institute. He also owns his own employee benefits company. He will speak on health insurance and health care reform.

    The speaker for the March 28 meeting will be announced at a later date.

    Blood Drive

    Gamma Iota Sigma is hosting a blood drive in the Tippie College of Business on Wednesday, March 10 from 11am - 3pm. Donating to the DeGowin Blood Center will take about an hour, and refreshments will be available. Please schedule your appointment in advance. http://uiowa.givesblood.org.     State Farm Companies

    Most of State Farm's internships in Bloomington this summer have been filled, but there may be openings left in some of the "zones". Review their internships website to learn more. Students who are looking for both internships or full time employment should check out their job opportunities website to view the positions currently available.

    Motorists Mutual Accelerated Training Program for Recent Graduates

    If you're looking for a job this summer, consider Motorists Mutual. Their accelerated training program covers all aspects of the business. Candidates spend three months in their home office in Columbus Ohio before being assigned their final location. There is one Commercial Lines opening in Dewitt Iowa. To learn more about the program, search for Accelerated on the careers website.

    Meet company representatives and practice your interview skills by signing up for interviews and mock interviews with companies registered through the career center. Check out the March calendar for information about the companies that will be on campus during the month.
