New student checklist

Your to-do's before classes start.

1. Submit your Intent to Enroll form Look for a link in the welcome email you received from Assistant Dean Colleen Downie.
2. Activate your HawkID Set-up instructions were in the email you received from admissions@uiowa.edu after you were admitted to the program.
3. Set up your @uiowa email An email address is generated for you once your HawkID/password is created. Hint: you can forward emails from your uiowa.edu account (Office 365) to any existing email account.
4. Make an advising appointment Map out your initial plan of study and talk about certificates and other add-ons with your advisor/site director.
5. RSVP for new student orientation Meet your future classmates, learn to work effectively in groups, and more.
6. Update your info in the PMBA student portal Including employer and title. Opt-in and view the photo directory.
7. Complete "Not Anymore" training Check your University email for a link to complete this online training.
8. Register for courses through MyUI First, check out the Professional MBA course schedule.
9. Confirm your tuition payment plan If you need to defer payment for employer reimbursement, there's a form to submit.
10. Get verification letters in MyUI If you need documentation to prove enrollment or tuition cost, go to the Documentation & Reports section of MyUI.
11. Log in to ICON before your classes begin You can set ICON notifications to receive updates by email.
12. Purchase textbooks Buy through Iowa Book or via an online vendor of your choice.

Need the latest version of Microsoft Office? As a UI student, you can get popular software for a fraction of the retail price through the Campus Software Program. Just need it for a short while? Get the program you need online through Virtual Desktop. For details, go to the University of Iowa ITS website.

MBA Math online noncredit course (optional)

MBA Math is a self-paced, online quantitative skills course that helps you prepare for the core MBA courses. The course lets you work at your own pace through an exercise-driven, active problem-solving approach. MBA Math topics each have their own pre-quizzes, teaching materials, exercises, and post-quizzes. The full course generally takes 20 to 40 hours to complete and costs about $150. Get started.

Professional MBA Excel tutorials

Professor Jeff Ohlmann created online Excel tutorials designed to familiarize you with the Excel functions you'll use in the quantitative MBA courses. Topics range from charting in Excel to basic statistical functions. To obtain the Professional MBA Excel tutorial links, email us a request.

Student ID

The Iowa OneCard is the official identification card of the University of Iowa. To receive a non-photo ID from the University of Iowa, you will need to complete a University of Iowa Non-Photo Student ID Card Request and scan/email it to idcard@uiowa.edu. You can get a University of Iowa picture ID card on the Iowa City campus at the Iowa OneCard Center.
