Business is becoming more global by the day.
Make sure your business education keeps pace.
Employers are increasingly looking for cultural competencies that are hard to glean from a textbook. From observing how cultural norms affect business practices to learning a new language, the experience of studying abroad will be a boost to your world-view and your career. It’s worth knowing that Tippie students who study abroad are more likely to have a higher GPA and to finish on time than those who don’t.
Tippie offers a wealth of study abroad options, including our own short-term programs, the CIMBA Italy program, exchange programs, and study abroad partner programs.
Study abroad process
Find your fit
There are study abroad options for every type of student—from spending two weeks in an English-speaking country to learning a foreign language as part of a year-long program. Find your match by exploring your options.
Apply to the program of your choice and explore ways to finance your study abroad. Look into Tippie scholarships and apply by the deadlines—November 1 for winter, spring, and summer programs and March 1 for summer or fall programs.
Study abroad options
Tippie short term study abroad programs
Tippie offers two-week study abroad sessions in London and China that are organized by the college specifically for Tippie students. During the sessions, students fulfill a 3 s.h. course and explore the business and cultural environments that these countries have to offer. From local meals to company visits, students are immersed into what a professional-working life is like in London or Shangai and Beijing.
Tippie students can also take the International Entrepreneurship & Culture course through the Institute of International Business (IIB). The course combines classroom learning about a foreign country with on-the-ground experience helping local businesses or microenterprises. Upcoming destinations include Cuba, Belize, South Africa, and Senegal.
Another popular Tippie-run study abroad option is CIMBA Italy. CIMBA is a global leader in business education and offers a study abroad program in Northern Italian village of Paderno del Grappa. The program staff is here in the Pappajohn Business Building and the course credits are issued by the Tippie College of Business. With its focus on leadership and personal development, CIMBA offers both semester and summer abroad options for undergraduates.
Get hands-on experience in an international workplace with an internship that is customized to your professional interest, including: finance, accounting, marketing, HR, event planning, IT, and many more. With eleven internship locations to choose from, global interning will equip you with the skills and background that today’s employers want.
