Professional experience matters
The perspectives, ideas, and leadership acumen of our students is what makes Iowa’s Executive MBA classrooms uniquely valuable. Admission into the program is heavily based on your professional background, leadership experience, and demonstrated ability to manage coursework at a high level. A typical Executive MBA student has more than seven years of business leadership experience.
Minimum admission requirements
You'll need to meet these requirements before we can consider you for admission:
- A bachelor's degree or higher with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
- At least 7 years of progressive, professional, full-time work experience (inclusive of nontraditional work experience such as military service or medical fellowships)
- A strong grasp of written and spoken English
- If you have significant progressive work history and have been very successful without completing your bachelor's degree, or your GPA isn't quite a 2.75, you still may be considered for admission. Please contact us to discuss your situation.
“I don’t know of any other opportunity in your life when, over the course of two years, you get to grow your personal network, your knowledge base, your experience level, and up your game to such a high level.”
Executive MBA application deadlines
We enroll new students each year in the fall semester. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis up until the final deadline, but we strongly recommend applying by the priority deadline. Priority applicants receive an early admissions decision and gain access to exclusive networking opportunities. Please note that students in the Executive MBA program are not eligible for student visas.
Applications received after the final deadline are considered as space becomes available.
