Your time to reacclimate

Pretty much everyone here has been out of school for a long time.

Residency Week is a way for us to help you get back into the rhythm of being in classes. A five-day "marathon" session that takes place in August of each academic year allows students to learn and network together.

First-year Residency Week

Get to know your classmates, study group, the EMBA support team, and faculty—plus, get set up with your University ID. The first-year Residency Week includes a two-day business simulation to introduce some business concepts and help your study group gel as a team.

Prior to residency week, you’ll complete three self-assessments to understand your key strengths, personality type, and conflict management style. We’ll use what we learn to help the teams understand each other and how to work together better. Additional time is devoted to teaming and leadership skills, effective presentation and communication skills, an alumni panel, and kickoff for the first two classes.

Second-year Residency Week

In your second year, we’ll welcome you back with a five-day intensive business simulation that draws on the prior year’s class work. The intent is to serve as a refresher before you transition to the in-depth content you’ll experience in year two.

You and your team will run an operational business simulation which includes conducting organizational/industry analysis, assessing market opportunities, defining strategic direction, and competing for company profitability and market share. Teams will then pitch their business plans to real business leaders who act as venture capitalists, "investing" in the simulation teams with the best plans.
