The Iowa MBA is ranked #1 in the world for finance by Financial Times.

You read that right. Number one. In the world. Your Iowa MBA will be respected, now and for decades to come, because you earned it from a finance powerhouse.

Why study finance? Because finance makes business happen.

Most people hear the word finance and think of investment banks and hedge funds. But it’s really about figuring out how to do things. How do you fund developing a new product? Hedge against raw material cost ups and downs? Manage currency volatility?

The Iowa MBA’s finance concentrations deliver a deep understanding of money, markets, and risk management. It takes your critical-thinking skills and natural talent for detail to new levels, empowering you and your future employer to “figure things out” and stay in the black.

Alumni Story
Lisa Ferguson

Pivot from journalist to finanical analyst

The Tippie staff hammered home what employers most want to hear about students’ real-world expertise. In internship interviews, Lisa Ferguson (MBA16) drew on in-depth experience from her Financial Modeling and Firm Valuation course on how to formulate, buy, sell or hold recommendations on stocks.

"It was very helpful to have specific examples so interviewers would think, ‘She does know what she’s talking about."

The result: Lisa landed her top-choice internship in investment management at Goldman Sachs in Chicago.
