We’ve been named a Military Friendly School every year since 2009, and have more than 700 student veterans on campus.

Veterans and active-duty soldiers in the U.S. military will find a supportive environment at Iowa, with staff that “gets” GI benefits and understands the transition from military to civilian careers.

As a military Veteran or active-duty service member, you’re entitled to having your GMAT or GRE cost reimbursed by the VA (requires GI Bill eligibility). Because of the UI’s status as a Home Base Iowa Certified Higher Academic Military Partner (CHAMP), you’ll pay the in-state tuition rate, no matter your residency status.

Military Veteran Priority Program

Between the federal government, the state of Iowa, and the Iowa MBA Program, we've created a long list of benefits that will help Veterans to earn an Iowa MBA. All Veterans are eligible for the MVP Program, whose benefits include:

  • Waived application fee
  • GMAT/GRE cost reimbursement (details)
  • Admission decisions within two business days
  • One-year admission deferment if plans are delayed by military commitments
  • Scholarships in addition to GI Bill benefits
  • Guaranteed in-state tuition rate
  • Deferred billing that coincides with VA benefit payouts
  • Help with VA benefits from the Office of Military and Veteran Student Services

Veterans scholarship

We offer a scholarship just for veterans and active-duty military, which pays out in addition to your post–9/11 GI Bill benefits (including housing and book stipend). The scholarship ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 in scholarships.

Military Homeownership Assistance Program

The State of Iowa provides $5,000 grant for down payment and closing costs on a qualifying home purchase. See details.

Full-time MBA military benefits

Military veterans with MBAs bring valuable skills to the classroom and to their post-MBA employer: leadership, reliability, productivity, and an understanding of diverse teams.

Employment programs

The Full-time MBA Program and the Center for Veteran Student Services are in cooperation to develop special programming for veterans entering civilian jobs after their MBA. This program will help connect veteran MBA students with military-friendly employers who understand the qualitative and financial benefits of hiring veterans. More details on this program will be released in the upcoming months.
