Applying to the Online BBA Program

Applications are accepted for fall and spring semesters only. The application deadline for the online BBA is May 1 for fall enrollment and December 1 for spring enrollment.

Option 1: Start in Tippie’s BBA program

Students can apply for admission directly to the Tippie College of Business if they have a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college credit with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on all courses taken AND have completed the following four prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better, and a GPA of 2.75 or above:

  • MATH:1380 Calculus & Matrix Algebra
  • STAT:1030 Statistics for Business
  • ECON:1100 Principles of Microeconomics
  • ACCT:2100 Introduction to Financial Accounting

Option 2: Start in the Prebusiness program

A significant number of students interested in the online BBA haven’t completed the prerequisites required to apply directly to Tippie. If this is the case, consider starting the Prebusiness program, offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  As a Prebusiness student, you work toward admission to Tippie’s BBA program by completing the prerequisite courses above and earning the minimum GPAs.  A Tippie academic advisor will be assigned to you as you work toward admission.

You are eligible for admission to the Prebusiness program if you meet these criteria:

  • a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher on at least 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) of acceptable graded credit, OR
  • an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or an Associate of Science (AS) Degree from an Iowa community college, and a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.00 or higher on acceptable graded credit from all colleges attended,  OR
  • an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree from an Illinois community college and a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher on acceptable graded credit from all colleges attended (AA holders from Black Hawk College in Illinois must have a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.25 or higher from all colleges attended).

Students with fewer than 24 semester hours will be considered for admission based on a combination of high school and college academic records, as well as ACT or SAT scores.

Ready to get started?

For either option, fill out the Transfer Student Application through the Office of Admissions. This page contains information on the application process, including fees, test scores and the link to the online application. In the application, remember to apply as a transfer student, select “Business” as your college and pick “Management: Entrepreneurial Management (Online BBA)” as your major area of interest.

The Office of Admissions will review your application to determine if you are eligible for direct enrollment in the BBA or the Prebusiness program.

Do you have existing college credit?

Tippie has partnered with a number of Iowa and Illinois community colleges and created transfer guides to identify courses that will satisfy our admissions requirements. See how your credits translate or plan ahead.
