What You Will Need: Please bring your laptop, power cord, pen/paper. There will be limited outlets, so please charge your laptop prior to class.

Software Install: Dr. Lee will send an email to registrants with information about the software you will need to install and how to prepare for the class.

This hands-on course will cover the basics of Machine Learning in Python. Topics addressed will include an introduction to Machine Learning and Python and demonstration of model development and evaluation based on core supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. Participants will be able to learn how to leverage widely-used data analytics tools and libraries in Python such as Jupyter Notebook and scikit-learn. A basic understanding of Machine Learning concepts is recommended but not required for this course.

Dr. Kang Pyo Lee serves as a staff data scientist at University of Iowa Informatics Initiative (UI3) and ITS Research Services. As a data scientist and data analytics consultant, he stands ready to help researchers on campus at every step of data analysis such as collecting, processing, visualizing of data, and ultimately gaining meaningful insight from data. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Seoul National University. After graduation, he worked as a data scientist at Samsung Big Data Center, where he led a number of big data based market research projects.
