As recognition for the 45 years of service to the industry and Nationwide, the board of directors of Nationwide recently honored Steve Rasmussen (BBA74) by making a $1 million gift and creating a scholarship in his name to support diversity at the Tippie College of Business.

Rasmussen served as president and CEO of Allied Insurance prior to it being acquired by Nationwide. He retired after being with Nationwide for 21 years and serving as CEO the past ten years.

Rasmussen was a student of Dr. Emmet Vaughan, a pioneer of teachings in the insurance industry. Through Nationwide, Rasmussen has been a strong supporter of the Tippie College’s Vaughan Institute in Insurance and Risk Management. The board of directors of Nationwide announced their generous $1 million gift at a retirement celebration held in Des Moines on Monday, August 5 and attended by Rasmussen’s closest friends and colleagues.

Rasmussen will also be recognized as the 62nd member of the Tippie Society.
