The Tippie College of Business announces the maintenance and extension of its accreditation by AACSB International for the college, overall, as well as for accounting, specifically. This designation ensures that Tippie meets standards of excellence, rigor, and commitment to continuous improvement for business schools.

“Accreditation by the AACSB is the gold standard among business schools worldwide, and the Tippie College of Business has held this accreditation continuously since 1923,” says Dean Sarah Fisher Gardial. “This five year extension will take us to a full century of being recognized as one of the top business schools in the world.”

AACSB is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, Master’s, and doctorate degrees in business. The status has been earned by fewer than 5 percent of the world’s business schools. Today, more than 687 business schools in 45 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation, while 182 institutions hold an additional specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, evaluation by external teams, and responsiveness to association’s recommendations for improvement. The AACSB requires each school develop an accreditation plan that addresses high quality teaching environment, innovative scholarship and research, and active engagement with industry. In order to maintain accreditation over time, all accredited schools must go through a continuous improvement review process every five years, focusing on three performance dimensions: engagement, innovation, and impact.
