Fostering female leadership in business is a priority for the Tippie College of Business. To help facilitate the connections that lead to mentorships, internships, and professional networks, Tippie is launching Tippie Women’s Network with an inaugural event 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 at the University Club.

The brainchild of the women employees of CIVCO, led by Robin Therme, president of CIVCO and 2000 Iowa MBA graduate, and organized under the direction of Tippie Dean Sarah Fisher Gardial, the Tippie Women’s Network taps into the college’s corporate partnerships to launch the next generation of female leaders. 

“Encouraging the diversity of thought and perspective women bring to the business world is critical to any company who wants to be on the cutting edge,” said Therme. “And we all know it starts with who you know. Tippie has a strong reputation for turning out career-ready leaders, and we want to start making those connection now.”

Twelve companies are confirmed for the event including:

  • ACT
  • CIVCO
  • Pearson
  • Transamerica
  • University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics

“Our corporate partners play an incredibly valuable role in our efforts to be the economic engine of our state, region, and nation,” said Gardial. “The Tippie Women’s Network is a great opportunity for our students to step to the front and start the process of being the drivers of progress.”  

The Tippie’s Women’s Network is part of the larger strategy to promote female leadership in the workplace. This portfolio includes the annual Tippie Women’s Summit event and the Iowa MBA Women’s Leadership Program which foster the next generation of female business leaders through scholarships, mentoring, workshops, and events. Tippie is also home to active undergraduate student organizations such as Women in Business, which are generously supported by alumni and corporate partners.
