Tippie faculty and staff believe in our mission. Last week during the “We Are PHIL” giving campaign, they raised $13,378 to directly support Tippie’s newly launched BizEdge Mentor Program designed to help first-generation and underrepresented students excel on campus.

“We Are PHIL underscores that Tippie faculty and staff are all in,” says Sarah Fisher Gardial, dean of the Tippie College of Business.

This year the overwhelming success of the campaign was due in part to a partnership with Tippie alumni who made donation challenge matches during the October 1-5 giving event. Tippie faculty and staff reached a $4,000 giving challenge by Wednesday, Oct. 3 that triggered a $1,000 donation match by Joe Droessler (BBA85/MAc86), chief operating officer at G1 Execution Services.

They met a second alumni challenge to hit a $7,000 stretch challenge issued by Trevor Schauenberg (BBA91), president and chief executive officer of Industrial Finance at GE Capital.

BizEdge is an extension of the Tippie Gateway Program for high school juniors from backgrounds underrepresented in business. You can learn more about BizEdge by visiting its GOLDrush crowdfunding site from the We Are PHIL event.

The Tippie We Are PHIL committee also hosted a selfie competition. The results are a visual example of the fun, caring, and innovative community at Tippie.
