Women in Business encourages women of all majors and years to join us in supporting the success of women at the University of Iowa. We inspire young women to reach their fullest potential by cultivating relationships and offering unlimited leadership opportunities. Above all, we value our four pillars: professional development, leadership, community service, and networking.

How to join

Attend one of our meetings to fill out a membership form and join. We hold meetings every other Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in PBB. Contact us for information about meeting locations.

Tippie Women Summit

Every spring Women in Business partners with the Tippie MBA Association to invite influential leaders to join us for the Tippie Women Summit. On this day, we focus on building each other up and learning from other ground-breaking women. Past speakers include the head of surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and president of the Oprah Winfrey Network.  

Speed networking

Speed networking events give you a chance to speak with local professionals about their own career paths and how to stand out when you embark on your own. You will get to sit down with these women and talk to them for a timed rotation before moving on to the next professional. 

Professional trips

Each semester we take our members on a professional trip to various cities in the Midwest. During these trips, you will get a chance to learn about the world of business outside of Tippie and what it takes to be successful as a woman. The trips typically include 4–8 company visits, charter bus, hotel stay, a night of fun entertainment, and a free meal. Read about our fall 2015 trip to Minneapolis.
