Financial Times Ranks Tippie Among World's Best

The Financial Times newspaper has ranked the full-time MBA program at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business as among the best in the world in a recent survey, and ranked its accounting program in the top 10.

The London-based daily ranked Tippie's MBA accounting programs in 10th place in the world, while the full-time MBA program overall was ranked 45th. Gary Gaeth, associate dean of the Tippie School of Management, said the lofty positions are especially gratifying because the Financial Times rankings are weighted heavily toward alumni career advancement that has accompanied their degrees.

"The ultimate mission of our program is to prepare conscientious managers who will be more successful in their careers, and these rankings show that our graduates believe we're fulfilling our mission," said Gaeth.

The Financial Times rankings are based on responses to questionnaires sent electronically to alumni who graduated in 2003. This year, almost 23,000 questionnaires were generated and more than 10,000 alumni responded. The survey ranked colleges in three areas; alumni salaries and career development; the diversity and international reach of the business school and its MBA program; and the research capabilities of each school. The newspaper said 155 of the top business schools around the world participated in the survey.
