BusinessWeek Survey Ranks Tippie MBA Among Best Values in the World

An MBA from The University of Iowa's Tippie School of Management is one of the best values in management education, according to a new survey by BusinessWeek magazine.

The survey also ranks the Tippie MBA as one of the top 45 full-time MBA programs in the country, and found that alumni believe Tippie faculty to be outstanding teachers.

Published in this week's issue of BusinessWeek, the survey ranks the Tippie full-time MBA as the second best U.S. school in the category of Return on Investment, which measures how long it takes to earn in additional salary the cost of tuition. According to the survey, typical Tippie MBA graduates pay off their tuition with additional salary in 3.32 years. The Tippie MBA is ranked seventh internationally in the category.

"This ranking truly shows the value our students receive, because it demonstrates you can get an outstanding education from the Tippie School of Management at an affordable cost," said Jay Sa-Aadu, associate dean of the Tippie School of Management.

BusinessWeek found Tippie graduates on average see a 13 percent salary increase after earning the degree.

Overall, Iowa was ranked among the top 45 management schools in the United States, and among the top 20 public schools. It's the only management school in the state of Iowa to be ranked in the survey.

BusinessWeek rankings are based largely on the results of surveys sent to students who graduated in the class of 2008 and to corporate recruiters. In the student survey, Tippie faculty received an A in the teaching category.

"It is especially gratifying to know that Tippie alumni found their MBA experience to be beneficial and equally as gratifying to know that corporate recruiters greatly value the contributions of our graduates," said Curt Hunter, dean of the Tippie College of Business.
