Buy This Hawkeye Shirt, Help Support Earth Day
Today is Earth Day, and one Iowa City business has created a shirt that supports both nature and the University.
The "Hawkeyes for the Planet" shirts were designed by students from The University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business, and some of the proceeds are being donated to the Johnson County Heritage Trust to help protect prairies, woodlands, wetlands, and historic sites in the area.
The shirts features green Tiger Hawks shaped into a tree, and are available for $20 at Active Endeavors, 138 S. Clinton St. $5 from every shirt—each made with 100 percent organic cotton—benefit the Johnson County Heritage Trust.
Giliann Chaikin, 21-year-old UI junior from Lone Grove, Ill., and a marketing intern for Active Endeavors, helped design the shirt, and said the response from the community has been great.
"We not only wanted to start to celebrate Earth Day as earth month, but we also wanted to carry it onto as a general statement about the importance of the environment."
The shirts are available at the store or online at: www.activeendeavorsonline.com/haforplt.html
