Start-up Schedules Launch Party

Editor’s Note: ClusterFlunk is a student start-up located in the Bedell Entrepreneurial Learning Laboratory on the UI campus.

ClusterFlunk, an Iowa City-based startup that was named a finalist in the Dream Big Grow Here contest in November, has scheduled a launch party. ClusterFlunk hopes to differentiate itself from other educational platforms in one simple way: no teachers allowed. The company's online platform includes discussion boards for each class, where students can ask questions and up- or down-vote answers, which are then archived to form a searchable database of course materials.

Adam Nelson and his cofounder, Joe Dellago, are juniors at the University of Iowa, growing their company in the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory on the UI campus. They started about one year ago and are planning to open up their system for testing in three classes by final exam time.

The party starts at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at The Summit in downtown Iowa City. There will be drink specials, no cover charge, and a live DJ. For more information, visit
