Welcome to Business Analytics.

We're happy to have you apart of our community. There's plenty to do before you get started on your Part-time Master or your certificate in Business Analytics, and we know you're busy, so we've laid it all out for you.

Check out the New Student Checklist below. At the bottom of the page, see some resources and services at your disposal. Have questions? Contact your site director.

New student checklist

Your to-do's before classes start.

  1. Admission Letter
If you require an official admission letter, please email tippie-analytics@uiowa.edu, and we will be happy to send one to you.
  1. Activate your HawkID
Set-up instructions were in the email you received from admissions@uiowa.edu after you were admitted to the program.
  1. Check your @uiowa email

Your UI email account will already be set up for you - please check to make sure it is working properly. You can access your UI email through Office 365.

This is important—we send all official program communication to your @uiowa email.

You are welcome to set up forwarding to your personal email so you don't miss anything important.

To forward: Login to Office 365 > Click Mail > Click Settings > Under My App Settings click Mail > Click Accounts > Click Forwarding > Under the "Forwarding" heading, select Start Forwarding.

(You have the option to keep a copy of all forwarded messages in your Office365 account. Note: If you do not select this, nothing sent to your UI email will be saved in your university mailbox.)

Select Save.

If you have any problems with email not working correctly, contact campus ITS at its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu or by phone at 319-384-4357.

  1. Sign Billing Agreement through MyUI

Each term, you'll need to sign the billing agreement before you can register.

You can find the agreement in MyUI in the Financial Aid & Biling section > Billing & Payment Student Agreement (right side of page).

  1. Register for courses through MyUI

First, check out the Professional Business Analytics course schedule. When registering, ensure that you are enrolled in the correct section:

Des Moines: 0EXA

Cedar Rapids: 0EXB

Quad Cities: 0EXF

  1. Confirm your tuition payment plan
If you need to defer payment for employer reimbursement, familiarize yourself with the policies and make sure you've submitted the deferred payment form.
  1. Log into ICON before your classes begin
You can set ICON notifications to receive updates by email.
  1. Purchase textbooks
Check on ICON or MyUI/courses to see what textbook or other materials are required.
  1. Send official transcripts

Graduate Admissions requires official transcripts before the end of your first term. If you have not already do so, mail official transcripts to:

Graduate Office of Admissions
The University of Iowa
107 Calvin Hall
Iowa City, IA 52242-3847

See more information about official transcripts and test scores.

  1. Complete 'Not Anymore' Training

We are committed to creating a campus where all students can feel safe and successful. In support of this aim, we require all new graduate and professional students to take the 'Not Anymore' sexual misconduct training. Not Anymore is an online, video-based sexual assault prevention program to prepare students with important skills and knowledge to address sexual misconduct (including sexual violence, sexual harassment, stalking, and dating/partner violence), safety, and bystander intervention.

If you are a new student to the university, you will receive an email with information and instructions on how to complete the program prior to the start of classes. Be sure to keep an eye on your university email account. Please feel free to contact ui-ipv-prevention@uiowa.edu with any questions.
