Funding study abroad

Funding your study abroad experience can come from a combination of financial aid, merit-based scholarships, and/or need-based grants. Tippie students have access to aid from both the Tippie College of Business and the university's Study Abroad Office. Applying for as many scholarships as possible can give you one less worry as you're preparing for your adventure abroad.

Tippie study abroad scholarships

There are a variety of scholarships available through Tippie for study and internships abroad. To apply, fill out the PDF form below and indicate the scholarships for which you are eligible. Tippie Scholarship deadlines are:

  • September 10 (winter programs only)
  • November 1 (winter, spring, and summer programs)
  • March 1 (summer of fall programs)

Robert G. Barker Study Abroad Scholarship
This scholarship can be applied to a study or internship abroad opportunity. It is designed for juniors and seniors with academic promise and demonstrated financial need.

Nancy Hauserman Global Scholarship
Named in honor of Professor Emerita Nancy Hauserman, these scholarships are designed to provide resources to those who might not study or intern abroad without financial assistance.

Fred & Charlotte Hubbell Scholarship for Study Abroad
This scholarship can be applied to a study or internship abroad opportunity. It is named for Des Moines business and community leaders Fred and Charlotte Hubbell.

Lahr Family Foundation International Business Scholarship
This scholarship can be applied to a semester-long study abroad program or a summer internship abroad with academic credit. Students must be Tippie juniors or seniors with a GPA of at least 2.75 who have graduated from an Iowa high school. Applicants earning the International Business Certificate are given preference.

Claudia Marban Scholarship
This award is named for Tippie Alumna Claudia Marban, who studied abroad while earning her B.B.A. The scholarship can be applied to a Tippie study or internship abroad opportunity, and preference is given to a Latino/a student who demonstrates financial need and maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Sassine Family Study Abroad Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to deserving students with financial need who demonstrate an interest in language and international issues including historical, political, and cultural topics, and an interest in a career involving international business opportunities.

Tippie International Programs Scholarship
Scholarships awarded to pre-business and business students participating in study and internship abroad experiences. Students who have never studied or traveled abroad are encouraged to apply.

Judy Walke International Business Scholarship
Scholarships for study abroad of varying amounts to provide students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in new experiences to be competitive in the global marketplace both overseas and at home.

Tippie Global Internship Scholarship

Participating in a summer global internship? This scholarship can be applied to the Tippie Global Internship Program and can be combined with additional Tippie, study abroad, and IES scholarships, including those listed above. Applications are due March 1, 2019
