American Advertising Federation is Tippie's only student organization that focuses on the advertising industry. We like to see ourselves as a student-run advertising agency. By meeting with industry experts and taking on real-life projects for local businesses, we'll give you that edge that is in high-demand in the advertising world.

Although we are affiliated with the Tippie College of Business, we encourage everyone interested to apply! From marketing, public relations, and communications to graphic design, journalism, and everything in between, we are open to all majors.

Operating as an agency
The most exciting part of American Advertising Federation is that we do real advertising work. Local businesses and student organizations seek us out to help them improve their brand awareness on campus and throughout Iowa City. During these projects, we let you to take on roles that actually match up with potential careers. It is a great way to find if your place in the advertising world is in account management, graphic design, social media strategy, etc.
Professional trips
Who doesn't love a road trip? Each semester we pack up our vehicles and head to a major advertising hub around the Midwest. We visit generous agencies that open up to us with tours and candid Q & A sessions. You will find these trips super helpful when it comes to narrowing down which track in advertising is best for you.
