Our commitment to access, opportunity, and diversity
The University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business is committed to promoting access, opportunity, and diversity in every aspect of our people, programming, and policies. The following Access, Opportunity, and Diversity Action Plan provides a detailed set of goals for how we will live up to our promise through critical tasks, relevant actions, and metrics to measure the success of these initiatives.
Goal #1: Create and sustain an inclusive and equitable environment
We can meet our access, opportunity, diversity, and collaboration goal if we create and sustain an inclusive and equitable environment in Tippie by communicating its importance and ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff (including those from underrepresented and marginalized communities) continue to learn about topics related to access, opportunity, and diversity.
Goal #2: Recruit, retain, and advance people who contribute to creating a diverse community
We can meet our access, opportunity, diversity, and collaboration goal if we enhance the recruitment, retention, and advancement of diverse faculty, administrators, staff, and students in Tippie by increasing our recruitment sources, and increasing mentoring.
Goal #3: Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into core academic mission of teaching, research, and service
We can meet our access, opportunity, diversity, and collaboration goal if we enhance Tippie’s core academic mission with a focus on access, opportunity, and diversity by facilitating appropriate course content, encouraging universal design and inclusive teaching practice, and encouraging access, opportunity, and diversity-related scholarly work.
Goal #4: Enhance access, opportunity, and diversity accountability, effectiveness, and collaboration
We can meet our access, opportunity, diversity, and collaboration goal if we enhance access, opportunity, and diversity accountability, effectiveness, and collaboration throughout Tippie by consistently reviewing our progress against clearly articulated goals.
