All about the bottom line

Let’s call it what it is—your education is an investment. High graduation rates, high job placement rates, and generous scholarships make Tippie one of the best investments in higher education.

The University of Iowa publishes the estimated cost of attendance for undergraduate students at the university, updated annually.

Tuition supplement for admitted students

Admitted students at Tippie pay a slightly higher tuition rate, depending on their residency status and academic level (years one through four). The amount of the supplement is adjusted by the same annual percentage increase as the university's base tuition, and is prorated for part-time students.

Where does this money go? To very good use. The supplement is used to support all that we do to help you succeed in the classroom and to prepare for the job market. We recruit companies to work with you on real-world consulting projects. We provide career prep, expanded academic advising, tutoring, and the Direct Admit Seminar. And we recruit the best faculty in high-demand areas like business analytics and finance.

Comprehensive total tuition and fee information can be found through the Office of the Registrar's Tuition and Fee Tables.

University financial aid

The University of Iowa and the Tippie College of Business have an excellent history of helping students finance their education. This may be in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and other forms of financial assistance. Approximately 80% of Iowa students receive some form of aid. Tippie students can apply for financial aid through the university's Office of Student Financial Aid. This office oversees grant and loan programs that can help you pay for your education.

Tippie scholarships

Thanks to its generous donors, the Tippie College of Business also offers more than 200 scholarships for students admitted to Tippie.

Once admitted, use your HawkID to log in to the Iowa Scholarship Portal to see all the scholarships for which you are eligible. Scholarships are typically awarded near the end of the spring semester and require full-time enrollment.

Be sure to complete the application by March 1 for full consideration. If you're a high school student, complete it as soon as you can after you are admitted to see your full financial aid package as early as February.

First-year students

If you have applied to the University of Iowa and are eligible for direct admission to Tippie, your single scholarship application makes you eligible for up to 90 scholarships.

If you are awarded scholarships, but for any reason do not meet the direct admission criteria after official test scores and transcripts are received, the scholarship would be revoked.

Current Tippie students

You automatically have access to Tippie scholarships. Simply log in to the portal, fill out the Tippie conditional section and apply for scholarships.

Additional scholarships for full-time transfer students are awarded through the University of Iowa Office of Admissions.

Prebusiness students

There are a few business-specific scholarships available to prebusiness students. They'll show up in the scholarship portal.

After you apply for admission to Tippie (during year two), you can apply for Tippie scholarships that you'll receive the following fall semester.
