We will hear from Tippie alumni about industry trends, the changing risk landscape and how insurance helps address cyber and other new risk exposures, new technology and innovation in the industry, their stories, and their advice on how to start a successful career in risk management.

Jonathan Abdo
Jon graduated with a Finance degree and the RMI certificate in 2017. For his first two years after graduation, he worked in the financial planning industry. During this time, he obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. For the last three years, Jon has worked as Commercial Insurance Underwriter with UFG, a national insurance carrier headquartered in Cedar Rapids, IA. He has since obtained the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Jon serves on the Vaughan Institute's Young Alumni Board. He lives in North Liberty, IA with his wife Hayley and enjoys personal finance, acoustic guitar, and disc golf.
Leah Feldmann
Leah is from Dyersville, IA, and graduated from The University of Iowa in 2014 with a major in Finance and the RMI certificate. While in school, she served as GIS President for a school year, and interned at both Nationwide and Geico. After graduating, she moved to Des Moines to start full time at Holmes Murphy as a Client Executive. She has been at Holmes Murphy for four years now, focusing in Property/Casualty sales for small business. In her free time, she loves cheering for the Hawks, golfing, spending time with her pup, Ruby, and trying new restaurants/breweries throughout the Des Moines Metro!
Kate Rarick
Kate has been at Nationwide for 14 years. She has worked in claims, underwiting, Agribusiness, Business Consultant, Middle Market Territory Manager and for the last 4 years has been an Underwriting Director in Scottsdale, Arizona. She's enjoyed her team in each role as they’ve helped her develop as an insurance professional and now she enjoys leading a team that works with agencies across the country. Her husband also works for Nationwide and they have two small kiddos, Crosby and Willow.
