Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

The University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in every aspect of our people, programming, and policies. The following DEI Action Plan provides a detailed set of goals for how we will live up to our promise through critical tasks, relevant actions, and metrics to measure the success of these initiatives.

Goal #1: Create and sustain an inclusive and equitable environment

We can meet our diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration goal if we create and sustain an inclusive and equitable environment in Tippie by communicating its importance and ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff (including those from underrepresented and marginalized communities) continue to learn about topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Goal #2: Recruit, retain, and advance people who contribute to creating a diverse community

We can meet our diversity, equity, inclusion, & collaboration goal if we enhance the recruitment, retention, and advancement of diverse faculty, administrators, staff, and students in Tippie by increasing our recruitment sources, and increasing mentoring.

Goal #3: Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into core academic mission of teaching, research, and service

We can meet our diversity, equity, inclusion, & collaboration goal if we enhance Tippie’s core academic mission with a focus on DEI by facilitating appropriate course content, encouraging universal design and inclusive teaching practice, and encouraging DEI-related scholarly work.

Goal #4: Enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion accountability, effectiveness, and collaboration

We can meet our diversity, equity, inclusion, & collaboration goal if we enhance DEI accountability, effectiveness, and collaboration throughout Tippie by consistently reviewing our progress against clearly articulated goals.
