The 2021 rankings from U.S. News & World Report place the Tippie College of Business 21st among business programs at public universities. The college is also a significant part of the university ecosystem that earned first place among public universities in the inaugural “writing in the disciplines” ranking for “making the writing process a priority at all levels of instruction and across the curriculum.”

The announcement comes during the 20th year of the Accounting Writing Program at the college. Since its inception, the program has expanded to include the Frank Business Communication Center, which provides support to all Tippie majors.

Graduating strong writers, speakers, and communicators is a pillar of the college’s strategic plan and supported by resources like one-on-one tutoring, the One Button Studio, and major-specific curriculum. The college’s success is regularly demonstrated by Tippie students winning major case competitions.

“The university is known internationally as a writing powerhouse because of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and that strength permeates deep into the curriculum for all Tippie students,” Interim Dean Amy Kristof-Brown said. “Through a dedicated curriculum designed by the Frank Business Communications Center, we graduate strong writers, speakers, and visual communicators who are career-ready from day one.”

The University of Iowa was named 34th best public institution in the nation, maintaining the same position as last year. The UI also ranked 56th on the Best Colleges for Veterans list and was ranked as a Best Value. Read more in Iowa Now.
