The Tippie College of Business is ranked 17th among public business schools in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges report, placing it among the top business schools in the country.
The ranking is up seven spots from last year. Overall, Tippie places 27th in the news magazine’s annual ranking, up from 36th last year, putting the college among the top 7 percent of all U.S. business schools. It’s also the highest ranked business school in Iowa.
Also in this year’s ranking, the Risk Management and Insurance program is 8th among all insurance programs after its inaugural year. The college started the program in 2023 to fill employment needs in a rapidly growing profession and to help strengthen one of the state of Iowa’s most important economic sectors.

Accounting: 18th public, 42nd overall
Business Analytics: 14th public, 26th overall
Finance: 17th public, 43rd overall
Management: 20th public, 38th overall
Economics: 28th public, 65th overall
The University of Iowa also ranks 1st among public universities for Writing in the Disciplines, aided in part by Tippie’s Frank Business Communication Center. The center teaches business students how to strengthen their writing and overall business communication skills.
The University of Iowa ranks 46th among public universities, 98th overall.
