The Position

The Department of Finance in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for one or more non-tenure Instructional Track Faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice, Associate Professor of Instruction or Practice, or Full Professor of Instruction or Practice starting August 19, 2026. We are particularly seeking candidates with backgrounds in wealth management, real estate or commercial banking, but we would also consider candidates with other finance backgrounds.

This is a teaching position without research responsibilities. Rank will be based on relevant experience and record of achievement. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. This position may range from 50% time (teaching 4 classes/year) to 100% time (teaching 8 classes/year) and includes a 1-7 year contract, determined by rank and experience, with benefits. The Department

The Department of Finance supports one of the largest and most in-demand programs at the Tippie College of Business, serving more than 1,200 undergraduate finance majors—Tippie’s most declared major—and playing a vital role in the College’s expanding online MBA program. The award-winning Department of Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the Associate or Full Professor level starting August 2026. We are excited to consider faculty with expertise in a broad range of fields, including Business Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering, Informatics/Information Sciences, Logistics, Management Science, Operations Management/Supply Chain, Statistics, or any related field. While the department is particularly open to exceptional scholars across these domains, we are especially interested in candidates whose work focuses on statistics, healthcare analytics, and/or operations management. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to vibrant and growing programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The Department

Analytics is the transformation of data into insight for better decision making, and Business Analytics is the application of analytics to business. As the process for transforming data into insight is inherently multi-disciplinary, Business Analytics lies at the intersection of Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Big Data, Applied Mathematics (particularly Optimization), Operations, and Business.

The Department of Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business has been at the forefront of research in Analytics for decades and, as the recipient of the 2021 INFORMS UPS George D. Smith Prize, was recently honored as a top department in the world for preparing students for careers in analytics. The department has research strengths in predictive analytics in the areas of health care, social issues, text, and social media, and faculty members have developed key methodologies in data mining, social-network analysis and mathematical optimization. The department is also internationally known for work in supply-chain design and transportation.

The Department of Business Analytics offers a BBA in Business Analytics and Information Systems, an MS in Business Analytics (both part-time and full-time programs, with the part-time master’s program ranked #5 in the nation by Fortune), as well as a PhD degree. Through its Tippie Analytics Cooperative, the department is actively engaged with local, national, and Fortune 500 companies to continually enhance and improve student learning. The department also hosts an annual international Analytics Case Competition.
