Many people know the acronym FAC which stands for “Friday After Class," but this year we’re switching up the acronym and inviting you to FBAC or “Friday Back at Class.” Join us for our new FREE lifelong learning initiative from the Tippie Alumni Relations Office.

Jeffrey Ohlmann, associate professor of Business Analytics and Huneke Research Fellow, will share his presentation, “Analytics and Armchair Quarterbacking. What Call Would Sports Analytics Make?” Iowa Hawkeyes football player, Tory Taylor, tells us that “Punting is winning.” Does the data agree? This presentation analyzes within-game strategies for football, basketball, and baseball. From fourth downs and overtimes to buzzer beaters and walk-offs, Dr. Ohlmann breaks down the numbers, and then debates whether all these analytics are ruining sports.

In the spirit of “FAC," we invite you to join us following the presentation for a hosted bar and light appetizers. Associate Professor Ohlmann will also be available for questions and further discussion.

Lastly, when you register and attend our FBAC program you will be entered into a drawing to win a Hawkeye swag prize pack! You must be present to win and we’ll announce the winners at the conclusion of the presentation.

We look forward to seeing you on September 30 for Friday Back at Class. You may register yourself and up to three guests using the form below.
