Nominations are now open for the 2026 Tippie Alum and Young Alum of the Year Awards. 
The submission deadline is Monday, February 23. Award winners will be announced in mid-March.

Award categories

  • Alum of the Year – Recognizes a distinguished Tippie graduate who has achieved professional excellence and demonstrated significant engagement with the college.
  • Young Alum of the Year – Honors a Tippie graduate, 40 or under, who has excelled early in their career and contributed meaningfully to the Tippie community. 

Award criteria

To be eligible for this award, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Tippie alumni status: Candidates must hold a degree from the Tippie College of Business (BBA, BS, MBA, MA, MS, MAC, or PhD). This award is exclusively for Tippie alumni and is not open to other University of Iowa alumni, current Tippie employees, or individuals with affiliate connections to the college.
  • Active engagement with Tippie: Candidates should have a strong connection to the college through activities such as:
    • Serving on advisory boards or committees
    • Speaking to classes or student organizations
    • Mentoring or advising student organizations
    • Promoting internships or full-time employment opportunities for Tippie students
    • Providing experiential learning opportunities for students
    • Contributing financial support to college initiatives
  • Career achievement: Candidates should have achieved a distinguished level of professional success.

Alex Lastname has been very involved in the marketing department and should be considered for the Young Alum of the Year award for the following reasons:

  • Alex regularly speaks in marketing proprep classes.
  • Alex has worked with her company to hire Tippie students for summer internships.
  • Alex has served as a mentor to students in Women in Business (WIB) the last 5 years.
  • Alex currently serves on the Young Alumni Board and has been on the board since 2021.

 

Jordan Surname is very deserving of the Alum of the Year award for all of the active engagement they play at the Tippie College of Business.

  • Jordan serves on the Tippie Advisory Board and has been on the TAB for the last 5 years.
  • Jordan served on the UICA Leadership council from 2018 – 2023.
  • Jordan has established a scholarship that helps to support first generation Tippie students. To date 4 students have been a recipient of his generosity.
  • Jordan was the keynote speaker at a student organization event, is very generous, and always is willing to provide financial resources when needed.
