How do I get started on gaining admission to Tippie's BBA program?
- Economics BA/BS with Pre-Business: Find your fit in Tippie. Explore Tippie’s business degree programs while receiving personalized major specific advising, access to Tippie Career Services, and opportunities to connect with the college’s centers and institutes.
- Even if you don’t meet the admission requirements for our BBA, a BA or BS in Economics is the foundation you need to launch into any business career.

Steps to apply
- Complete the Change of College Application for the semester you plan to apply to Tippie.
- You will be enrolled in the Tippie: Exploration to Admission (TEA) ICON course.
- In your TEA ICON course, sign up for a required Launch YOUR Path Session to complete the Pre-Admission Requirement (PAR) form and build a MyPlan.

Final deadline: May 1
Spring admission
Early deadline: October 1
Final deadline: December 1
*We do not accept winter courses for Spring admission.

Did you miss the application deadline?
Complete our Late Admission Form and after your request is received, a member of our admissions team will contact UI admissions to move your application to your intended admission date.
BBA admission requirements
- 24 semester hours of college credit (from UI or transfer credit)
- No instances of academic misconduct
- 2.75 GPAs in the following: Pre-requisite, UI, and Cumulative
- Passing grades (including grades of P if earned spring 2020) in the following prerequisites or equivalents:
- ECON:1100 Principles of Microeconomics
- STAT:1030 Statistics for Business
- RHET:1030 Rhetoric
- BAIS:1500 Business Technology & AI
- MATH:1350 Quantitative Reasoning for Business
- Completion of the Pre-Admission Requirement form, access provided by completing the Launch YOUR Path Session of the Tippie: Exploration to Admission (TEA) ICON course.
Economics BA/BS admission requirements
- No instances of academic misconduct
- Completion of Pre-Admission Requirement (PAR) form
Appeal an admissions decision
If you have applied and been denied admission to Tippie, you can submit an appeal to have the denial decision reviewed.

If you earned an AA degree from any Iowa or Illinois community college or Waldorf College, you’ll have met all the Iowa Core Requirements except world language and the Understanding Cultural Perspectives requirement (effective for anyone admitted to Iowa and Tippie Fall 2021 and after).
